Day 17: the Sun is shining like there's no tomorrow...

At this rate, there won't be.

Mecca hasn't changed much in the last 9 days or so that we have been away. Except that is for the Mosque near the hotel we used as a landmark. That's now been demolished to make way for some expensive hotel no doubt.

It angers me to no end what the Authorities are doing. All the cheap hotels that used to be beside al-Haram are being demolished to make way for expensive hotels. By cheap I mean £10-£15 and expensive I mean £50+. They're a disgrace. Islam is not about serving the rich while stamping on the poor. Which is exactly what this lot are doing.

On a cheerier note, we may be moving to a better hotel at a better rate with a better bathroom for less money and not that much further away from al-Haram.

Sounds too good to be true? Probably is. We shall see.
